The application of artificial intelligence, deep learning, and machine learning as a tool for access to justice
Abstract
The relevance of this topic is justified by its contemporaneity, as modern society is experiencing an evolution unprecedented in history. This evolution impacts all areas of human existence, even transforming the way individuals exist in the world. The social impacts experienced by contemporary society—often described as the information society—are remarkable and have reached the Judiciary, promoting significant changes. In this context, artificial intelligence applied to the Judiciary enables access to justice as a means of ensuring the effectiveness of individual rights. The present study aims to examine the use of artificial intelligence in Brazilian courts and to investigate the impact of this new tool on the country’s procedural system. The research problem guiding this study consists of determining to what extent new technologies—namely artificial intelligence, deep learning, and machine learning—applied to the Judiciary can contribute to access to justice. The general objective of the study is to analyze the use of artificial intelligence in Brazilian courts and to investigate the impact of this new tool on the national procedural system. The deductive method was adopted, and bibliographic and documentary research techniques were employed, consisting of the analysis and study of books, scientific articles, and legislation addressing the subject.
