Abstract

The act of driving goes beyond a functional need, becoming a material and symbolic expression of consumption. In addition to autonomy and mobility, a driver's license and a vehicle represent social status, identity and belonging to a specific community of consumers. The vehicle becomes a signifier of cultural values, such as power, success and social distinction; its ownership and use reinforce the driver's identity. Car consumption, especially among young people, is often associated with the search for pleasure and experiences, transforming the vehicle into an extension of the owner's personality. Participation in automotive consumption communities strengthens social bonds, reinforcing the sharing of experiences. Driving goes beyond the practice of locomotion, involving a complex system of cultural and emotional meanings; reflecting the dynamics of modern consumer society.
