Abstract

Tensions in the historical episodes of transformation and war involve the characters of the novels Ventos do Apocalipse (1999) by Paulina Chiziane and Fogo Morto (1990) by José Lins. Their lives and perspectives were transformed within the process of movement or staticity. The importance of a close relationship between history and literature is underscored not only because the latter records facts and contexts, but because it forwards a unique set of ideological forms, intensification of tensions, contradictions and social conflicts. It also highlights the meaning of historicity
