Abstract

This paper analyzes, for the 1995-2002 period, the personal financial resources of the members of the parliamentary elite of the Chamber of Deputies during the Fernando Henrique Cardoso terms. The members of this select group occupy the main key positions, carry out important activities and have influence on the main decisions of the Chamber of Deputies. The results were: a) most of them have financial resources lower than R$ 200,000; b) the main parties of the coalition, which give support to the Executive power, have financial resources between R$ 500,000 and 2 million; and c) there was a growth in financial resources for some political parties. The methodological procedure used involved the analysis of biographical data.

Em abril de 1996 iniciou o curso de Ciências Sociais na Faculdade de Ciências e Letras da Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho, campus de Araraquara (SP). No final de 1996 solicitou a sua transferência para a Universidade Federal de São Carlos, campus de São Carlos (SP), e, em março de 1997, reiniciou o curso de Ciências Sociais nesta instituição de ensino. Possui Graduação em Ciências Sociais pela Universidade Federal de São Carlos (1997-2000), Mestrado em Ciências Sociais (concentração em Relações Sociais, Poder e Cultura) pela Universidade Federal de São Carlos (2001-2003), Doutorado Sanduíche em Ciência Política (concentração em Estudios Latinoamericanos) pelo Instituto Interuniversitario de Iberoamérica da Universidad de Salamanca (Espanha) (2004-2005) e Doutorado em Ciências Sociais (concentração em Relações Sociais, Poder e Cultura) pela Universidade Federal de São Carlos (2003-2007). Tem experiência nas áreas de Ciência Política e Sociologia e tem interesse nos seguintes temas: política municipal, instituições políticas, poderes Executivo e Legislativo na América Latina, eleições e representação política, comportamento político, elites parlamentares latino-americanas, origem social, perfil de carreira e metodologia em pesquisa quantitativa/qualitativa.
