Keywords: Dynamic activities. Contextualized. Culture. Amazon region

Abstract

This research aims to explore and correlate indigenous culture in the Amazonian context with the teaching of science and chemistry at the high school level. For this reason, the objective of this work is to promote equitable integration of indigenous traditional knowledge and Western science, thereby enriching the educational process and contributing to the formation of conscientious citizens, respectful of cultural diversity, and committed to environmental preservation in the Amazon region and worldwide. The methodology adopted involved conducting dynamic and contextualized activities, educational games such as 'Where Does the Sweet Come From,' 'Geographical Memory,' story cubes, and festival animation, as well as the creation of teaching resources such as educational videos and a book. The activities were implemented at the José de Araújo Rodrigues Full-Time Education Center, located in the municipality of Codajás, state of Amazonas, Brazil, and were directed towards students participating in the Science Club, comprised of 25 club members. In this way, students reported a greater connection between local culture and the scientific topics covered. They also had the opportunity to create teaching resources, which not only contributed to the dissemination of intercultural knowledge but also encouraged creativity and active student participation.
