Cultural training and mediation: Adornian reflexions from "O gato e o escuro"
Abstract
In this article we intend to work in a part of findings from the undergraduate Project Cultural mediations and formation. Through collation of concepts of cultural semiformation and formation coined by Theodor W. Adorno we have analyzed the potential of cultural mediation by familiar formation. Thereunto, we take as field example the relationship established between mother and child in the narrative inside the book O gato e o escuro, by the Mozambican writer Mia Couto, in tension with formative assumptions by Adorno. The guiding
question is to think the possibilities that the ‛subject’ Pintalgato has elaborated to undertake his actions even with another’s guardianship. Our final considerations indicate that autonomy also may be potentiated as the subject is motivated by fear and fantasy/imagination.
