Orality in literacy: a study on the criteria for the evaluation of the “programa nacional do livro didático” (1998-2016)
Abstract
This articles presents the results of a study that aimed to investigate, over time, changes and standards on the evaluation criteria used by the “Programa Nacional do Livro Didático”, specially focused on orality teaching during the literacy cycle. In line with the object’s nature and the study’s proposed objectives, we adopted as methodological procedure a documentary research and treated the data with a content analysis. We analyzed different editions of “Guia de Livros Didáticos do PNLD” (1998, 2000/2001, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016), using the evaluation sheets from each edition as main source. The results showed that the criteria regarding the adequacy of oral genres to different communicative situations, to the exploration of the relations between oral and written language modalities, and to the use of spoken language in the interaction in the classroom tended to remain unchanged in the time frame analyzed. On the other hand, we identified changes related, above all, to the suppression or inclusion of criteria, such as "propose the use of spoken language in classroom interaction" and "explore the verbalization of writing", respectively.
