Abstract

The present research aimed to investigate, through the application of two questionnaires sent to students and their parents, the association of risk behavior (tobacco, alcohol, drugs and sexual risk behavior) with some characteristics of life style (gender, marital status, parents scholarity, rewarded work, habitation, physical activity, alimentation habits and psychosocial aspects) of 720 teenagers (252 boys and 468 girls) from 16 to 17 years old of both genders from three public schools in Florianopolis-SC. The samples were selected intentionally, in other words, the students were invited to participate on the research. The data analysis, performed by the qui-squared test and the prevalence reason, revealed that, there was a positive associations of the risk behavior with the following factors: teenagers that have rewarded work (RP 1,38 IC 95%), live with one of their parents (RP 1,37 IC 95%), don’t take regular Physical Education (RP 1,99 IC 95%), are inactives (RP 1,88 IC 95%), have inadequate alimentation (RP 1,40 IC 95%) presents psychosomatics symptoms (RP 1,41 IC 95%), don’t feel satisfied with life (RP 1,38 IC 95%) and have sleeping (RP 1,53 IC 95%) and anguish problems (RP 1,70 IC 95%). Due to the fact that the samples are not representatives for all the population of students from Florianopolis/SC, the results have its external validity committed and, therefore, limited. Thus, it can be verified that the risks behaviors adopted by de individuals of this study contribute for the adoption of others negative behaviors, reflecting on the present and future health.
