Peer Review/Arbitration

The Journal of Physical Education publishes articles approved through a peer-review process. After submission, a preliminary analysis is conducted to: 1) verify compliance with the current editorial standards of the journal; 2) assess the similarity index using plagiarism detection tools such as Turnitin and Ithenticate; 3) confirm the manuscript's suitability within the journal's scope. Upon approval at this stage, the article is assigned to a section editor responsible for overseeing the evaluation process. The section editor reviews the article to determine whether it is ready to be sent to reviewers, needs revisions before evaluation, or should be rejected due to significant methodological, textual, or analytical inconsistencies or limitations.

Following approval by the section editor, the article is sent to at least two reviewers with expertise in the respective thematic area. Review can be conducted in a double-blind manner or with single anonymization, where reviewers have access to authors' names and affiliations. In the latter case, both authors and reviewers must agree beforehand to the disclosure of this information. In cases of conflicting reviews, a third evaluation is requested. Evaluation criteria include originality, contribution to knowledge in the field, appropriate methodology, clarity, and current relevance. After review by the reviewers, articles may receive one of the following decisions from the section editors: 1) acceptance, 2) rejection, or 3) request for revisions.
