Eating atitude disorder and its relation with body self-image distortion in judo athletes from the state of Parana
Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the occurrence of eating attitude disorder and its relation to the body self-image distortion in judo athletes from Paraná state. 101 athletes, being 71 participants of JOJUP’s (42 male and 29 female) and 30 were participants of JAP’s (18 male and 12 female), were subjects of this study. As instruments were used the EAT-26 and the BSQ. In relation to the eating attitude disorders the judo athletes from JOJUP´s showed higher probability to develop eating attitude disturbances. In relation to the body self-image distortion the judo athletes from JOJUP’s presented higher scores being seven cases of light distortion, six cases of moderate distortion and three were serious level. There were statistically significant differences for the presence of eating attitude disorder as for body self-image distortion between genders. Were noticed statistically significant correlation between eating attitude disorder and body self-image distortion in the JOJUP’s male category and when the judo athletes were grouped independently from the category or gender.Downloads
