Physical Education in relation to the inclusive education: conceptual and methodological reflections
Abstract
Inclusive Education is a main educational orientation in most countries which signed the Salamanca Declaration in 1994. By defining the Inclusive Education (IE) as being “for everybody and each individual”, we aim at creating na educative model that rejects exclusion and promotes learning without barriers. Physical Education (PE) is part of the inclusive curriculum. Apparently, PE seems to be more receptive to Inclusion, but in fact PE teachers seem to have more difficulties to deal with the inclusion challenges. In PE there is a “double exclusion genealogy” that implies a greater difficulty to answer to diversity. In this article some strategies to improve teacher’s education and support are suggested, in order to make the inclusive quality of PE better.Downloads
