The knowledge of the sports coach in the context of social projects
Abstract
Brazil has numerous social projects that aim to guarantee the right to sport for those who live in situations of social vulnerability. The aim of this article was to identify knowledge for professional practice in social projects, based on the perceptions of the coaches themselves. Interviews were conducted with six coaches from the largest Brazilian social program, Second Half Program (Progama Segundo Tempo). Getting to know the sport being worked on and its students were the most expressive results. Still, knowing pedagogical and contextual issues are presented as necessary. We understand this study as an important step towards promoting contextualized discussions about these coaches, who live with risky situations and have a significant social and training role in our society.
