School volleyball: characterization of schools/municipalities participating school games in Santa Catarina
Abstract
The school environment has contributed to the process of sports development, especially through the diversified offer of activities in Physical Education classes and in extracurricular projects aimed at sports. The work carried out with school volleyball teams in the state of Santa Catarina has been highly recognized over the years, but there is little evidence about schools that have contributed to the training of volleyball players in the Santa Catarina scenario. Thus, the objective of the study was to characterize the schools participating in Santa Catarina School Games (JESC) of volleyball. A documentary analysis of the JESC bulletins made available by the Santa Catarina Sport Foundation (FESPORTE) was carried out. The evidence revealed that the educational establishments with the highest participation and achievements, in both categories investigated, are basic education schools in the state network, followed by educational institutions in the private network and, to a lesser extent, by municipal schools. While in the female category the school they are mostly located in the East-North and South regions, in the male category they are concentrated in the Midwest region, especially in small and medium-sized cities with a high Human Development Index (IDH).
