Abstract
The main porpouse of this study was to investigate the talent’s reason of abandonment and to indentify the athletes’ sportspersonship in transition to juvenil to adult category in athletism. Participated in this study the athletism’s talents: athletes (n=16) and ex-athletes (n=11). The Multidimensional Sportspersonship Orientation Scale (athletes) and a Questionnaire about the reasons to athletism abandonment (ex-athletes) were applied. As to date analyses were utilized the ANOVA and the Wilcoxon test (p>0,05). In athletes, the “respect to rules and judge” was the more evident (4,21 ± 0,91). In relation to ex-athetes, 81% stated that they abandonated the athletism by means of lack of infrastructure, governamental assistance and sponsorship and modality devaluation. The athletes’ commitment with sport and day-by-day life reflects in conflicts that resulted in athletism abandonment in the transition from teen to adult category.Downloads
