From the “founding speeches” to the creation of a “collective memory”: forms of writing the history(ies) of the University of São Paulo
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to show how Julio de Mesquita Filho and Fernando de Azevedo worried abou to prepare “fouding speeches”, through “pronouncements” and “speeches” effectuated at moments of consecration of the institution, which were invited to participate, in order to defi ne the principal moments and “social actors” that participate of the Universtity of Sao Paulo’s creation, in 1934. These speeches, in part, fi xed on the “collective memory”, helped, many times, of basis to indicate the form of how to writing the history(ies) of the University of São Paulo. It indicates, that, in many cases, such speeches were criticized, and sometimes even remade, by another “social actors” of the period, which directly or indirectly, they had participated of the creation of the university.
