The physical education professionalism conformation since the formation of university professors

Abstract

This work analyses the origin of physical education career within Universidad de La Plata in the period inaugurated at 1953. The framework of that experience was a set of discussions about features needed by corporal specialists for Argentinean education during the first half of the twentieth century. Those debates influenced curricular policies for the whole Argentinean educational system. The main topic of this work focus on, on the one hand, agreements and tensions developed around the creation of that career. On the other hand, it explores the features of that new formative model and the importance of its creator – Alejandro Amavet – on contents and the orientation of professional model setting long-lasting pattern for that institutional experience.
