To travel to legitimize: Armanda Álvaro Alberto in the Commission of Brazil-Uruguay Interchange (1931)

Abstract

Nominated for Belisario Penna – that temporarily occupied the folder of the Ministry of the Education and Health – Armanda Álvaro Alberto integrated, in October of 1931, the Commission of Intellectual Interchange Brazil-Uruguay. If the analysis of the motivations of her indication to integrate the cited commission allows to understand the context politician of the trip, the old relation of friendship with the temporary minister, as well as her process of legitimation in the educational debate, the examination of her conference in the Pedagogical Museum of Montevidéu and her presented report, in her return, the headquarters of the Brazilian Association of Education propitiates to capture her vision of the educational reforms that if developed in Brazilian lands since the previous decade and its particular admiration for determined developed educative experiences in the neighboring country. The correspondence kept with Uruguayan educators allows to conclude that, as many educators, she launched hand of her trip to legitimize her pedagogical experience in such a way as the educational initiatives visited of escolanovists inspiration and to legitimize herself, still more, in the educational debate.
