Abstract
The objective of t his study was to compare and to correlate values of critical speed (CS), average speed of swimming (ASS) for the concentration of 4 mM blood lactate (S4) and mean velocity on 300 m freestyle (S300). Eight male college swimmers (age between 22 and 25 years and three years training experience) performed six evaluations: 1) maximum trials at distances of 100, 200, 300 and 400 m for the determination of CS and the S300 and 2) repetitions of 300 m, respectively at 90 and 100% of the S300, for the determination of the S4. There was no difference and correlation between the S4 and S300. Correlations were found among models of CS and S300. Utilization of different models does not influence the determination of CS in college swimmers. Also, the methods used in this study did not differ significantlyDownloads
