Abstract

With Hegel theory and practice come to be understood as subject to self-movement of the Spirit. Karl Marx is in charge of subverting the Hegelian idealist system, giving it a materialist character and history. Recently opened in this perspective, the theory abandons his ‘etheric’ retreat to take sides effectively in real human-social problems. In this study we intend, therefore, to make some reflections on the evolution of this linkage between theory and politics in the writings of Marx and Engels written between 1843-1848, a critical period to the development of their reflections, that would result – through key works, such as Economic and Philosophical manuscripts and The German Ideology – in the writing of the Communist Manifesto, perhaps the greatest example of this conjunction between the theoretical and practical dimensions.
