Rhythm construction in Leito de Folhas Verdes by Gonçalves Dias

Abstract

The present article analyzes some enunciation strategies of the poetic text. In the perspective of rhythm, understood not only as sound symbolism but also as a peculiar element of the nature of the: poem as disposition or harmonious development of the expressive proceedings, the way of combining images, ideas and sound elements drawn from the linguistic material is investigated. The relationship between the semantic rhythm, responsible for the involuntary connections of referential space, individual's reality and imaginary structures, and the associative rhythm as an integrating phenomenon of poetry is especially regarded.
