What public health in physical education for? Reflections of a professional involved in the area for twenty years
Abstract
Based on a globa1 observation of the current evolution of identity and the characteristics of the Physica1 Education area as well, a reflection on the maintenance of the PubIic Hea1th was carried out. Therefore, the question is: ‘what are the pragmatic necessities of specialists in public sanitation and health to work in Physical Education?’ Eventual answers are raised, by using some PhD projects developed by members of Unicamp Public Health/EpidemioIogy & PhysicaI Activity Group, as elements of applications. The first contribution is identified in the possible use of epidemiological paradigm to produce knowledge by using resources and techniques of epidemiological action and thought. Limitations and benefits of Physical Activity on Health are a1so considered, besides managing with the specificities of Health Education. At last, Health conception as a public right is emphasized.Downloads
