Methodology and working styles of Physical Education teachers
Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to diagnose and draw the profile of the methodological procedure of physical education teachers. Methodology should be understood as the way of presenting the content of a discipline and style as the action of the teacher in his/her teaching practice. The sample consisted of twenty-five teachers (n=25) from the public schools of Maringá, Paraná. An observation was made of the teaching procedure of each teacher, who was later questioned about the teaching method and style utilized. The results of this study of the physical education classes showed that the style and procedure of the teachers consisted exclusively of ordering, instructing and testing knowledge and performance. The teachers showed no other ways of teaching their classes, which presupposes that they were not concerned with the methodology utilized, and that they knew no other ways of proceeding, besides knowing nothing about other methods and styles.Downloads
