Abstract

The aim of this work was to identify, in handball players speeches’, the preferred teaching approaches and the transfers between the concepts emphasized in each method and the formal game. Seventeen handball players of adult team (from the State of São Paulo) were interviewed. Their speeches were analyzed using the Collective Subject Discourse method. The results showed that female players prefer active teaching approaches (such as situational and through games), mainly because of the complexity of game context. About the transfer between the active teaching approaches and the formal game, players emphasized the psychological demand, the technical-tactical aspects, the similarities with game and the behaviors adjustment to game demands. It is concluded that players prefer training linked to game dynamics, with opposition, privileging situations that provoke questions about the game.
