Abstract
This research aims at providing input for a sociocultural discussion on the notion of talent in sports. The most traditional concepts of talent, stemming from Natural Sciences framework, refrain from exploring the social and cultural aspects pervading the theme. For developing this discussion, this paper draws on Human Sciences, especially on Anthropologist Clifford Geertz. This investigation sustains that the Human Science paradigms foster a deeper understanding on how society understands and signifies talent, and provide a wider range of subsidies to exploit how this concept is endowed with overvalues in social practices.Downloads
