Aspects of the educational press in Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro (1921-1963)
Abstract
This text presents the general approach and first results of the research sub-project “The Periodic Educational Press in Rio de Janeiro between 1870 and 1960”, which aims to analyse, in a historical-comparative approach, the journals produced for teachers throughout this period. The intention is to perceive the way in which pedagogic knowledge, when used as a theoretical foundation and statement of a body of knowledge necessary for teacher performance, interferes in the process of teacher professionalization. It is assumed that one of the ways in which such knowledge can be analysed refers to the role of the educational press, understood as the product of editorial strategies directed at teachers and performing a crucial role in the circulation and production of knowledge linked to education.
