Education and social development: discussions of the intellectual João Roberto Moreira (1950/1960)

Abstract

The intellectual João Roberto Moreira (1912-1967) had his career in the educational field marked by his work in various national institutions and international bodies such as the Brazilian Center for Educational Research (CBPE) and the Organization for Education, Science and Culture (Unesco). Especially in the decades of 1950 and 1960, he started to produce a series of reflections on the education-development relation, a question also discussed by other intellectuals of that period. The present article aims to bring up the discussions produced by this intellectual inside these instances, analyzing them in the context of an intellectual discussion regarding projects of nation and education.
