Abstract

Changes which occurred and those in process within the field of communication are highlighted through the incorporation of issues from environmental epistemology. The methodological approach comprises a review of the literature on the two fields under analysis, which underlies the analytical and reflective identification exercise of interfaces between Communication and Environment. The contributions of the environmental episteme in the (re)configuration of specific communication areas are provided. They reveal new perspectives brought by contact and mutual relationship. The epistemologies of Communication and Environment are brought forth to mark changes in Communications due to the incorporation of epistemic foregrounding in the fledging field of the Environment. Results show the perspectives for the expansion of interface studies, especially interdisciplinary ones and those with undetermined outlines.
