Abstract
The aim of this study was to analyze the adherence to Physical Education teaching profession, reasons for choosing Physical Education as a profession and the school as a mediation place, the withdraw desire and the reasons for permanence in teaching career. Participated in the study four Physical Education teachers with more than twenty-five years of experience as teachers in Santa Catarina. In the information collection, a semi-structured interviews with the Physical Education teachers, with the workmates, and also the document analysis were performed. The technique of content analysis was used in information analysis. The evidences found allowed verifying similar motivations to the choice of Physical Education profession (interest in sport) and in public schools teaching (professional fulfillment), as well as different feelings in terms of leaving the teacher career. Besides, it was concluded that professional stability and income ensured the permanence of the teachers in the public teaching during the period of teaching.Downloads
