About the contents of high school physical education in different educational networks of Rio Grande do Sul
Abstract
The contents of high school Physical Education in the federal, public and private networks in RS were studied by means of documental analyses and interviews with 22 teachers from 18 institutions, in 6 different cities. Of the 2.289 contents analyzed, sports contents embraced 66.9% (indoor soccer and volleyball accounted for 71%), gymnastics 14.4%, recreational activities 6.1%, competitions 3.1%, the theoretical contents 2.6%, assessments 2.0%, dance 1.5% and other recordings 3.4%. As a component of the PE classes, sports present several positive points, however, the privileged supremacy of their recreational dimension complicates the development of other curricular components, culturally limiting the student’s formation, moving them away from fitness, health and quality of life, as well as simplifying daily pedagogic practices, endangering the respect for legal prescriptions. The questioning about the pedagogical range indicates the need for changes within the paradigms of contents.Downloads
