Physical Education from the standpoint of history
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyze the needs that led humankind, at the very beginning of the capitalist society, to revalue the body as a means and as an end to education. Therefore, based on Montaigne, Locke and Rousseau, the development of modern educational thought is analyzed, verifying that the revaluation of the body was a revolutionary expression of the bourgeois society, having as its fundamental the individual freedom. Man of ancient Greek and Roman societies was offered as parameter for the new man to build the new social order.Downloads
