Abstract
This paper presents a discussion about the subjectivity involved in the triad of health, disease and old age, when aiming to a practice in Physical Education consistent with the ideals of Health Promotion. It draws on Freirian pedagogy and its use as a theoretical support for the practice when the objective is Health Promotion. The empowerment of the individual is the key point, and issues such as autonomy and empowerment are identified as necessary for health. Practices based on Paulo Freire´s pedagogy should consider one´s life history and, especially when it is intended to deal with aging, it would be relevant to know the subjectivity involved in health and disease, considering the relationship that has been established between age and disease. Therefore the need to resort to Gonzàlez Rey’s current discussions about subjective meaning and subjectivity.Downloads
