The social function of indigenous languages in the linguistic policies of pedagogical practices in intercultural bilingual education

Abstract

Our aim in this paper is to present how researches conducted by the Observatory of Indigenous Education, combined with the researches of Stage and Extracurricular Projects of the Undergraduate Program for Teachers Intercultural Indigenous Education at Federal University of Goiás, contribute to the improvement of the indigenous education of the Araguaia-Tocantins region and the adoption of language policies in bilingual teaching practices in school policies and strengthening of native languages originating the communities.
