Strategic uses of the journal Resumo Escolar in the context of the new school reform in Espírito Santo

Abstract

The article analyzes the strategic uses of Resumo Escolar, published in 1929, in addressing teachers and students, understanding it as a pedagogical device for the dissemination and implementation of the principles of school reform in Espírito Santo. Based on the evidentiary method (Ginzburg, 2002), it uses as sources: seven editions of the investigated journal, government reports, school inspection reports and journalistic materials. In the context of the educational reform produced in Espírito Santo between 1928 and 1930, it is understood that the editorial project of Resumo Escolar and its strategic uses by the Secretariat of Public Education, conform it as a box of utensils (Carvalho, 2006) that conveyed the new man ideal and the didactic-pedagogical guidelines that would guide local schools.
