Linguistic contextualism: historical context, theoretical assumptions and contributions to the history of education writing
Abstract
The origins of linguistic contextualism (LC)are found in the writing of the history of political thought, although it was disseminated and became one of the most important references for debating issues related to intellectual history. Skinner and Pocock are among its main formulators and thus the sources emphasized in this study are these historian’s methodological works. The analysis is divided into tree parts. The first identifies the emergence of the intellectual project of LC. The second explores the logical architecture of the theory, while the third emphasizes the focus of LC in the review of the functioning of language and the question of the role of the individual in history. The conclusions discuss the potential of this proposition for the writing of the history of education.
