The History of Education by Thomas Ransom Giles

Abstract

This study intends to compose a series of investments on the
establishment and organization of the field of History of
Education. It set out to analyze a particular writing experience,
that of Ransom Giles Thomas (1937-2009) – an American by
birth who settled in Brazil. The book History of Education was
published by Pedagogical and University Publishers in 1987.
It focused on analyzing enrolled resources, methodological
operation, narrative models it legitimizes and with which it
dialogues, as well as the representations about the Americas
(Brazil and USA) the author circulates in his work. It is cogent
to note the interest in conjecturing the different experiences
involved in producing this knowledge, and in observing the
echoes produced by the circulation of the works by this author.
