As part of the research group ‘Gêneros textuais e ferramentas didáticas para o ensino-aprendizagem de língua portuguesa’ (UEL/CNPq), this study aims to present partial research results on the importance of teaching tools for the process of becoming a teacher. Out of the tools available, microteaching was the one chosen because it is one of the most present in the practical disciplines/subjects in the Letters course. For a better understanding of the role of microteaching, the journals of three student-teachers, written after their experience with microteaching in 2006, were selected. The study is grounded on teacher education, social interactionism and sociodiscoursive interactionism literature. Non-conclusive results have demonstrated that microteaching can be seen as a real catalytic tool for the reflective process in pre-service education, but it is dependent on the mediation by teacher educators’ in the development and evaluation of this tool.Downloads
