Call for Papers for the Thematic Dossier “Law, Institutions and Racial Relations”

The UEM Journal of Legal Sciences (RCJ UEM) announces the call for article submissions to the thematic dossier “Law, Institutions and Racial Relations”, dedicated to critical reflection on the multiple ways in which racism permeates the legal order, institutions, and social relations in Brazil. The proposal brings together contributions aimed at analysing the contemporary challenges of racial justice, with particular attention to the role of law and of public and private institutions in either reproducing or confronting racial inequalities.

The Journal of Legal Sciences of the State University of Maringá (RCJ-UEM) presents Volume 8, Issue 3, for the year 2025, continuing the consolidation of its editorial resumption and reaffirming its commitment to four-monthly regularity, scientific rigour, and academic excellence.

This issue brings together articles and reviews devoted to matters of considerable legal and social relevance, encompassing discussions on the investigation of sexual offences, crimes against humanity, property and agrarian reform, artificial intelligence applied to access to justice, and the rights of persons with disabilities, as well as critical analyses of punishment, structural negligence, and shortcomings in legal protection in cases of broad social impact. The published texts highlight the thematic and methodological plurality that guides the journal’s editorial policy, thereby contributing to a deeper engagement with contemporary legal debate.

By publishing this issue, RCJ-UEM reaffirms its institutional mission to promote high-quality scholarly production and to strengthen a permanent forum for critical reflection in the field of Legal Sciences, in accordance with the values of social justice, human dignity, and the protection of fundamental rights.

Founded in 1997 and currently classified as QUALIS B4, the Revista de Ciências Jurídicas da UEM [RCJ-UEM] is a quarterly journal dedicated to publishing original texts in the fields of Legal Science, Applied Social Sciences, and Human Sciences. Aligned with its editorial guidelines, the journal's primary objective is to disseminate, both nationally and internationally, the reflections and research of academics on topics related to the protection of minorities and vulnerable groups. RCJ-UEM aims to accommodate high-quality studies that offer deep and innovative analyses on the defense and promotion of the rights of marginalized populations, encouraging scientific production that can influence public policies and inclusive legal practices.
